Michelle Miller
President & CEO
Michelle Miller (she/her) cultivates individual and institutional capacity to advance the common good.
As President & CEO of Philanthropy Missouri, Michelle leads a statewide network of grantmakers and sector partners to shape a more collaborative, effective, and forward-looking philanthropic sector. Together with the PhilMO team, Members, and community partners, she works to build a philanthropic ecosystem that expands opportunities for all Missourians to thrive.
Michelle believes lasting, equitable change requires both strong institutions and engaged individuals, and she has spent her career building both. A natural connector who leads with listening, she brings a cross-sector perspective shaped by work in philanthropy, community-based organizations, public policy and advocacy, consulting, and leadership development. Across these roles, she remains focused on strengthening systems, elevating community voice, and helping leaders align their values with meaningful action.
Her work as a changemaker began in her small hometown in Texas, and she carries those roots into her work at the state and national levels. Michelle is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Leadership Missouri, and the Coro Fellowship in Public Affairs, where she remains engaged as an advisor. She is also an active volunteer across a range of nonprofit and civic organizations.
An avid traveler and lifelong learner, Michelle is deeply curious about people and cultures. She lives in St. Louis, where she paints, attempts to garden, and continues her long-standing effort to make peace with Midwestern winters.
