Philanthropy Missouri (PhilMO) is where philanthropic leaders belong; we can make a bigger impact together!
Membership in PhilMO ensures you aren’t left alone in your work. When you join PhilMO, you and your peers are equipped, connected, and energized for thoughtful action and greater impact. Member dues provide an important and consistent revenue source to sustain the association’s work.
Membership is based on the calendar year, January 1 to December 31. We welcome new Members at any time and prorate dues accordingly. PhilMO offers three types of membership: Full, Associate, and Regional Partner.

Full Members
Full Members are community foundations, corporate foundations or corporate charitable contribution programs, donor-advised funds, family foundations, federated funds (e.g., United Way), giving circles, health conversion foundations, intermediaries, private foundations, public religious charities, or publicly- or tax-supported grantmaking organizations. In addition, they are enthusiastic about advancing PhilMO’s vision and must:
- Make grants for charitable, religious, educational, and/or scientific purposes as their primary charitable activity;
- Make grants to multiple, unrelated organizations; and
- Devote a majority of their charitable budget to their grantmaking programs and activities (rather than fundraising).
Full PhilMO Members are:
EQUIPPED
- Access customized, Member-informed educational programs and curated resources on the latest data, community concerns, philanthropic trends, and innovative approaches.
- Request personalized staff support and research that address your unique needs.
CONNECTED
- Cultivate relationships, build community, and collaborate with funders across the state.
- Exchange knowledge and experiences with your peers that support you personally and professionally.
ENERGIZED
- Use your learning and connections to more confidently navigate an evolving philanthropic landscape.
- Grow in courageous leadership as you advance opportunities for all Missourians to thrive.
Full Members contribute annual dues ranging from $750 to $9,000, calculated on a sliding scale proportionate to charitable giving amounts. Some Members, including community foundations, federated funds, and publicly-funded grantmakers, pay a flat-rate of $2,000 annually.

Associate Members & Regional Partners
Associate Members are professional advisors, consultants, and estate planners whose primary business activity is to support grantmaking and nonprofit service delivery.
Regional Partners are regional and/or statewide infrastructure organizations that do not have a grantmaking function but do have significant interaction with the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors. This may include community action agencies, Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), regional planning commissions, governmental agencies, chambers of commerce, community partnerships, regional and statewide associations, academic institutions, and other infrastructure organizations.
Associate and Regional Partner Members are equipped, connected, and energized through access to curated resources, networking programs, and professional development opportunities.
