Event Description
On October 25, 2024, Philanthropy Missouri gathered its St. Louis Funder Network, SWMO Funder Network, and Members in other geographies to screen and discuss the film Uncharitable.
The film uses the personal stories of Dan Pallotta, Steve Nardizzi, Dorri McWhorter, Scott Harrison, Edward Norton, Darren Walker, and philanthropic and nonprofit figures to make a call-to-action: we should radically rethink giving. Directed by Stephen Gyllenhaal, this feature-length film draws from Pallotta’s record-breaking TED Talk and book. Pallotta’s message across all platforms is that philanthropic choices are hurting the nonprofit sector and must be reimagined. He makes a call to reconsider employee compensation, risk tolerance, advertising, and returns on investment.
